It is not surprising to see Dubai becoming the host of the richest golfing event. After all over the last few years so many new golf courses have sprung up in Dubai and with Dubai having a great number of expatriates and also being the stop over destination for many people traveling from the West to the East it comes as no surprise that Dubai is being aggressively marketed as a big golfing destination. Next season there is a new event on the European Tour to be played in India which is being sponsored by “Golf in Dubai”.
This tournament is definitely going to attract a strong field and will go a long way in golfers rearranging their schedule to ensure they can participate in what can only be considered the showcase event on the golfing calendar. Even if Tiger does not play(he will if he makes 11 events on the European Tour) it is still likely to attract the very best in the game.
I will not be surprised if Mr Brady succeeds in his aim of ensuring “the players feel compelled to stay and play on the European Tour.”
