Inkster Leads British Women’s Open
July 31, 2008 by Sandy Mitchell
It seems to be the season of the older golfer. Two weeks ago we saw 53-year-old Greg Norman contend for Britain’s Open Championship. This week it is 48-year-old Juli Inkster leading the field at the British Women’s Open Tournament in Sunningdale, England. She carded a record-tying 7 under 65 for the first round, with an eagle and five birdies.
Inkster has seven major championships to her name, the last at the US Women’s Open in 2002.

Creamer Ends Ochoa’s Winning Streak
May 5, 2008 by Sandy Mitchell
Twenty-one year old Paula Creamer won the SemGroup Championship yesterday, ending Lorena Ochoa’s bid (at least for now) to win five consecutive LPGA championships. But, it wasn’t easy.
Creamer blew a two-shot lead on the final hole, forcing a playoff with 47-year-old Juli Inkster. Creamer finally won the playoff by sinking an eight-foot birdie putt.
This win is Creamer’s sixth career win and second this year. (She won the Fields Open in February.)
