Europeans Already Starting Head Games
It didn’t take long for the European players to start playing a few mind games as the Ryder Cup matches draw near. To hear it from them, you’d think the Americans are coming over to burn their villages, and pillage their farms. Some of the quotes from the Euros include, “It’s kind of hard not to make that team favorites…”, “I think they are a very, very, strong team…”, “if they can qualify on their points system, they are one hell of a player”.
Anything can happen in match play, and the American rookies might surprise everyone and actually make a difference in the matches. However, I really believe that Woosy and his band of merry men are licking their chops waiting for us to send the rooks to slaughter.
The other piece of interesting news is that Jose Maria Olazabal chose not to play in this week’s European event, which more than likely would have locked up his spot on their team. Instead, he’s going quail hunting and unofficial team leader Colin Montgomery is none too happy about it. Even if Olazabal gets bumped from the points, I would imagine Woosy would make him a captain’s pick because he’s too valuable not to be on the team.
