Did You Know…
That there was a playoff tournament this year, for a major golf tour? Surprise, surprise. The LPGA has its innaugural playoff event this week, the ADT Championship. I knew the ADT tournament was being played this week, but I thought it was a LPGA silly season event where the ladies were thankful to be there, but let’s have fun and collect our checks, kind of thing.
I had no idea that there was an actual playoff. Rumor has it that the field will be cut in half after the first round, and then again in half after rounds 2 and 3, with the final eight playing for the $1 million dollar first prize. Did you also know that the first-half of the field was finalized in July? I didn’t. I watched the LPGA this past weekend and not once did I hear or see any type of advertisements talking about the playoffs. What?
So I figured I’d head over to the official ADT Championship web site and get the scoop. Well, either I’m blind as a bat, or they’ve done a good job of playing “where’s waldo” because I can’t find anything that details how the tournament will play out. If someone else finds it, please leave a comment. And you wonder why the LPGA doesn’t get the media and press that it deserves. Is it possible that Carolyn Bivens is in over her head? Stay tuned.
