Daly Withdraws from Shell Houston Open

John Daly, who it may be charitably said is having a challenging season, withdrew yesterday from the Shell Houston Open after scoring a double bogey on the par-3 16th hole (his 7th hole in the round), citing a back injury. Daly, who was playing on a sponsor’s exemption, was very likely going to miss the cut.
This was the 9th start for Daly this season. The fan favorite backed out of the Bob Hope Classic with a rib injury, missed four cuts, and with asked to withdraw from the Arnold Palmer Invitational after he missed his Pro-Am tee time. His coach even quit on him.
I’ve always enjoyed watching Daly. It’s sad to see him struggling on and off of the course. Here’s hoping for better things for Big John.
