Brian Gay carded a 67 at the Verizon Heritage Classic in Hilton Head on Saturday to lead the tournament by three strokes going into the final round. But how much do you really know about this 37-year-old Tour veteran?

Here are a few facts about Brian Gay:

* Gay turned pro in 1994

* He has one PGA win, at the 2008 Mayakoba Golf Classic in Cancun

* Gay was born in Ft. Worth, Texas

Play Suspended at Pebble Beach

High winds forced the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Open to be postponed until Monday. The winds, which gusted to up to 45 mph, were powerful enough to topple a 40-foot pine tree that crossed the third fairway. Originally, the tee start times were delayed for six hours. Later, when the winds refused to subside, play was postponed for the day. Dustin Johnson is leading Anthony Kim by four strokes going into the final round. Kim is the only player under 25 to have multiple PGA Tour wins. Post from: Green Posse

Harrington Wins PGA Player of the Year

Padraig Harrington, pictured above after winning the PGA Championship this year, was named the PGA Player of the year for 2008. The 37-year-old Irishman won the British Open (for the second straight year) and the PGA Championship this past year. He is just the second European player to receive the honor. (Nick Faldo won the award in 1990.) The award, first presented to Ben Hogan in 1948, is based on a formula that weighs tournament wins, official money standing, and scoring average. Although there are four more PGA tournaments this year, Harrington’s 116 points are out of range of any other player.

Singh Wins FedEx Cup

He may have finished well behind the leaders at the Tour Championship in Atlanta this weekend, but Vijay Singh took home a big paycheck anyway as the winner of the 2008 FedEx Cup. Singh, who won the first two of the four playoff tournaments had such a huge lead going into this weekend’s tournament that his winning was all but guaranteed. Only his being disqualified or dropping out of the tournament would have prevented him from winning the $10 million bonus. Singh, 45, has three PGA tour wins this season and 34 total in his career (the 14th highest of all time).

This is the second year for the FedEx Cup. Tiger Woods won the title in 2007.

Hall of Famer Tommy Bolt Dies at 92

Thomas Henry “Tommy” Bolt, a 2002 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, passed away at his home in Batesville, Akansas on Saturday, August 30. He was 92. Bolt is best known for his 1958 US Open win and his explosive on-the-course temper. He was frequently known to throw clubs and use abusive language.

There was no denying that he could play golf, however. Bolt had one of the best swings of his era and ranked up 15 PGA Tour wins, despite not joining the Tour until he was in his 30s. Think what he could have accomplished in the game had war not occupied him during his younger years.

After the PGA Tour, he played on the Senior Tour for several years and won three tournaments.
