Kim Welch Wins “Big Break”

In case you weren’t watching, Kim Welch beat out French golfer, Sophie Sandolo to win the Golf Channel’s “Big Break Kaanapali” reality golf competition. The prize package isn’t too shabby, possibly worth putting up with all of the cattiness this season.
Welsh wins entry into the 2008 Navistar LPGA Classic, which is being held in Prattville, Alabama September 25-28. She also gets a 2009 Futures Tour Card with all of the entry fees waived, a 2008 BMW Z4 coupe, and an Adams Golf endorsement that includes $10,000 in cash.

Big Break Kaanapali Begins

Big Break Kaanapali Begins

The ninth installment of the popular Golf Channel reality series, “Big Break,” begins tonight at 10pm ET. This time the cast is women, some with experience on the Futures and European tours. The twelve golfers will be competing for an exemption for an LGPA Tour event as well as cash, a car, and other prizes. The action all takes place in Maui.

Yes, golf season is approaching and golf show season is winding down, but there are still a few interesting shows in April, on both sides of the Atlantic. Here’s what’s going on:

New York International Golf Show, April 4-6, 2008. This three-day show at the Jacob Javits Center features golf clubs, golf balls, golf apparel, golf shoes, and golf training aids for sale to the general public. Golfers in Southeast Michigan can pretend like it’s golf season as well as learn about all the latest golf resorts and golf gear at the Michigan Golf Show, in Novi (outside of Detroit) March 7-9 and in Lansing March 14 -16. Plan Now for the North Coast Golf Show

The North Coast Golf Show, which calls itself “America’s Favorite Golf Show,” begins its tour of the Northeast and Midwest shortly after New Year’s Day. The weekend show features a large marketplace of new and discounted golf merchandise, information on golf travel, a long-drive competition, golf celebrities, and a manufacturer’s demo range, where you can test the latest clubs.
Admission ranges from $8 to $10 per adult, depending on the city and includes a subscription to Golf Magazine. The following cities are scheduled:
