Big Break VI - Episode 4

Somehow, this version of the Big Break doesn’t have the intensity of past shows. Perhaps it’s because there are too many competitors and we only get to see a couple of shots from each? And it’s also hard to get behind any particular player because you don’t really know how good or bad they really are.

This week’s episode pitted the men against the men, and women against the women, and it was the best episode to date. The Immunity Challenge showcased a tremendous comeback from Bri Vega, Ashley Gomes, and Bridget Dwyer when it looked like they were headed for the Elimination Challenged. It goes to show you that this show is completely and totally unforgiving. Ironically, when Dwyer hit her tee shot out of bounds, it pumped up their team because Dwyer went on to hit a clutch shot to the green. However, the drama wasn’t over, as Dwyer also discovered she had 15 clubs in her bag - one too many. Add a two-stroke penalty and things were desperate for them, but in the end they pulled it out.

The same can’t be said for Rocky Rockett and Sarah Lynn Johnston. In the Elmination Challenge, Rockett hit a drive that went too far and left a wedge shot that was too close to the green to allow any backspin, and the ball rolled to the back of the green. He couldn’t get up and down and was sent packing. Johnston also hit her approach long and then blasted her chip through the green and didn’t get up and down either. Johnston seemed to have the complete game, but all it takes is one bad shot and you’re gone.
