Anyone Seen John Daly?
It was two years ago that the American media and golf fans were up in arms about trying to get John Daly onto the 2004 Ryder Cup team. He had actually played quite consistently (for him) that year and while he wasn’t going to make the team on points, captain Hal Sutton was having to field questions about making Daly a captain’s pick.
I thought that this being a Ryder Cup year, John would wake up once again and make a real run at making the team. Then I got to thinking. If you’ve seen his reality show on The Golf Channel, then you know John really doesn’t practice a lot. He likes to eat, drink, and have a good time. Nothing wrong with that at all. Add to that this his wife was released from prison recently and well, you get the picture.
Too bad, because Daly would be a great addition to our team if he’s playing with confidence. He’s got a great short game and doesn’t back down to anyone (Tiger included). I’m sure his “lifestyle” doesn’t sit well with the “powers-that-be” as well, so maybe it’ll never happen.
