PGA Golfer, Bobby Nichols Dies at 66
Former PGA Tour member, Bobby Nichols died Sunday at age 66 of cancer. Nichols played on the tour from 1970 to 1973. A native of Tennessee, he then spent the rest of his career as a coach at Tennesse Tech. Nichols also designed and owned Ironwood Golf Course, near Cookeville, Tennessee

I think you may be wrong about the time that Bobby Nichols spent on the tour. I believe it was longer than 1970-1973. I could be wrong but it seems to me that he was out there in the 60’s.
Actually, there are two Bobby Nichols that played on the PGA Tour during that time. The Bobby Nichols that won the PGA Championship in 1964 played from 1962 to 1974. He is still alive. (I did, however, have a picture of the wrong player.)
Correction, Bobby Nichols defeated his battle with cancer but died from a flesh eating staph infection. He was much more than a PGA pro. He coached golf at Tennessee Tech University for 32 years, designed and owned Ironwood Golf Course of Cookeville, TN. He introduced the game of golf to thousands. He would close his course and hold summer golf clinics for kids. Often he would give clubs and other equipment away to the less fortunate. Bobby was a great man, and to many he is a hero. The person he was has left a tremendous imprint on thousands of lives. He was an all around great guy who lived his life with God always first.
