PGA Cut Rule in Jeopardy?
February 14, 2008 by Sandy Mitchell
It’s only February, but the new PGA cut rule may soon be changed. Rule 78, which began this season, reduces the tournament field to 78 players for the final two days. This differs from the rule that’s been in effect since 1969, which made the cut at the top 70 players plus ties. The new policy left 18 players at the Sony Open and 19 at the Buick Inviational in the money, but unable to play in the Saturday and Sunday rounds. (that’s the MDF–made the cut; did not finish–you may have seen.)
A 16-member player advisory committee recommended on Wednesday that the rule be changed back to the previous system for the Friday cut and that they add a second cut, to 54 players, on Saturday for the final round. The PGA policy board will vote on the recommendation February 25. If adopted, the amended policy would go into effect immediately.
What do you think about the new PGA cut rule? Should it be changed?

I think, the new PGA Cut rule should be changed. I think, more the players take part in a competition, more it would be competitive. So, I hope the previous rule would remain active.
