It promises to be an interesting season on the LPGA circuit this year. Lorena Ochoa the number one golfer has just recently won the female athlete of the year. She will definitely be high on confidence not just because of the award but also because of her tremendous run of form through most of last year. She was definitely miles ahead of her closest competitors.
But a major factor we must consider is that while Lorena was unquestionably the number one last year, we must not forget it was a season plagued with injuries for Annika Sorenstam. A fully fit Annika would definitely pose a major challenge to Lorena Ochoa’s dominance on the tour.
I would also be interested in seeing if the Koreans who are presently “almost there” (five of them in the top 15) can step it up a gear and ensconce themselves at the top of the rankings. World number two Suzanne Peterson should be pretty confident. After all not many people who win their maiden event, win four other events in the same season.
The most fascinating aspect of last year of course was the fact that all the winners of the majors were first time winners of a major. That is not something that happens frequently. Infact it was the first time in the alst 12 years that it happened. If that were to be repeated we could see a lot of changes in the rankings in the top 10.

Interesting and LPGA don’t belong in the same sentence. I just tried to watch about 10 mins of it. Full of Koreans, Chinese and very few US women, and they’re all overweight. Who in the heck is sponsoring this garbage??
