I think I have the wrong club ..
The details of my second best career round, are actually more interesting than those of my career round (if any round-of-golf-details can be considered interesting ), proving that the score isn’t everything
After playing the same golf course (Markland Wood) literally hundreds of times over the five years that I worked there
The Rules are the Rules
Man I hate, that phrase.
In the 2003 British Open Jesper Parnevik and Mark Roe were both disqualified after they forgot to switch scorecards at the beginning of the round, and therefore even though their scores were correctly recorded, because of the simple fact that their cards were labeled with each other’s name, they were both guilty of turning in an incorrect scorecard.
Do you always shoot 4 under for nine?
When I was an assistant pro at Markland Wood back in the 1970’s, I had two pro’s over one day for a practice round for a tournament that the club was hosting.
As we played the front nine, I chatted away with them, giving them “the tour”, and I hardly paid any attention to my own game, and after nine holes I realized I had shot 4 under for the nine !
A golf instructor has to be a great player first … or not?
President’s Cup – Ryder Cup – Who cares?
Well the P.G.A. tour players are gathered together this week for the President’s Cup in Montreal … that’s in Canada for some of you less aware folks down south
Non or casual golf fans, might ask, “The President’s … what?
And although I’m a golf nut, when these “cups” are played, I couldn’t care less, and often I don’t even remember that they are being played that week.
Rain? What rain ?

Spitting on the course
Ok, not the most elegant topic.
I don’t spit in … public. Ever. Ok … except when brushing my teeth,… or maybe after having to vomit, both of which (usually) occur in private and in the bathroom ! But that’s usually not in public !
Seeing professional golfers .. or even casual golfers spit on the course is disgusting.
