Big Break VII – First Elimination

I’m not totally shocked, but the first pair of contestants to get eliminated from the Big Break VII were the senior citizens, Gary Ostrega and Cindy Miller. Ostrega has some game, but his attitude is horrible and I’m not sure why the Golf Channel folks even picked him to compete. Miller did have a great attitude about the whole event, and was honest about her playing skills, but she just couldn’t put together the shots when she needed them. However, even more sad is that the Golf Channel is hell-bent on enticing the players to act and say certain things and then using them as part of their commentary or “confessional” piece.

It’s almost tempting to call these players misfits, but that’s not the case at all because there are some talented golfers in this episode. But they’ve also made sure to include court-jesters, class-clowns, and cocky-for-no-apparent-reason types as well. As has been proven over and over, the best overall player doesn’t always make it to the end of the series, simply because you have to be on your game every day they shoot the episode.

But if I was a betting man (and I’m not) the odds say to go with a Bri-Ashley final, and a Don-Tommy final. That’s simply based on their past performances as being able to play under pressure.
