The International Saying Goodbye
Well it appears that after 20 years as a staple on the PGA Tour, the International golf tournament at Castle Pines (south of Denver) will fade away after this year’s event. Rumor has it that the Jack Vickers (founder of the tournament) was not happy with the new date of this year’s tournament since it appears that some of the regular big-name players can’t make it because of timing issues.
This is a personal disappointment for me because the International is played about 30 minutes north of where I live and I’ve enjoyed myself every time I’ve been to the tournament. The tournament also had trouble attracting players because of the altitude adjustment that’s required for the week the players are here. Some had no problem with it, while others felt it messed with their games too much. Rumor also has it that a new location is already waiting in the wings after tomorrow’s announcement in Denver. Maybe Hartford is coming back?
