Creamer Finally Wins
February 17, 2007 by admin

Paula Creamer ended her 18-month winless streak by outlasting Julieta Granada at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay today. Actually, Creamer made it closer than she wanted by making double-bogey at 11 and bogey at 13 and at one point was tied with Granada until making a birdie at 17. Creamer needed this win not only for her confidence but because this is a Solheim Cup year and she needs to start accumulating points as soon as possible.
Morgan Pressel was tied with Creamer going into today’s final round but Pressel looked all out of sorts, especially on the inward nine where she needed to make some critical putts to put pressure on Creamer. There’s no question Pressel has game and belongs on the LPGA, and she will win eventually, but it looks like it might take a little longer than she anticipated. She’s got a feisty attitude and would be a great addition to the Solheim Cup team if she can garner enough points.
Julieta Granada is the real deal. For those that think last year was a fluke, think again. She seems to make pressure putts when it really matters, much like Lorena Ochoa did last year, and Granada’s birdie putt at 17 was a preview of things to come this year.
