PGA Top Moments

December 12, 2006 by admin

It’s no surprise, but Tiger Woods brings home the goods for top PGA moments for more than one reason. A lot of people were shocked that he missed the cut at the U.S. Open, but I was more suprised that he even showed up, considering that his Father had recently passed away. Everyone knows how close they were, but I don’t think anyone really understands how it might affect you (I certainly don’t ).

However, my favorite top moment of the year was Tiger’s complete dissection of the course and field at the Open Championship in Liverpool, England. What a complete display of golf, being played at its highest level and taking what the course gave him, instead of attempting to force shots that weren’t available that week. My favorite Tiger tournament was the 2000 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, but this might supplant that for me. The emotion he showed after he holed out on 18 was something very special that only Tiger and his Father were privy to.

The second biggest moment was Phil Mickelson’s meltdown on 18 at the U.S. Open. But you know what? Mickelson was leaking oil from the get-go on Sunday, and it’s only because of his miraculous short game that he was able to stay in contention all day. But Phil’s excellent adventures are the main reason he attracts all the fans and supporters that he does. How can you root against a guy that always goes for broke?
