The B5Media network:

Julieta Granada Earned the $1 Million

Wow. There’s been a mini-firestorm in the aftermath of Julieta Granada winning the ADT Championship and the $1 million first prize. There’s been numerous columns written that have implied she really didn’t earn the championship because the scores were reset after the third round.

Hogwash. If the scores would have carried over, she still would have won, going away. The other complaint is that the money breakdown was unfair and that far too much was given to the winner compared to the rest of the top five. There’s probably some merit to that because a look at the payout (below) does seem out of whack. Finishing second or third should mean a little better payday and this is one area that the LPGA could probably improve on.
