Those Kids Can Play!

If missed the telecast of the this year’s Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, you missed some great golf by up and coming juniors. Every year these kids seem to get better and more poised on the golf course. There were some junior girls outdriving their Champions Tour counterparts! And their scores were even more impressive on the famed coastline course.
Having played Pebble Beach about 3 years ago, I know how tough the course is. It’s fairways are wide and generous and even the rough is manageable (but no walk in the park). Pebble bites back on the greens. They’re small, undulating, and incredibly fast, and to see the juniors handle them is quite a feat.
Golfers like Jack Nicklaus, Annika Sorenstam, and Tiger Woods come along once in a great while, but you never know if there’s a Tiger or Annkia lurking in these junior tournaments.
