Cristie Kerr in Contention
Seems like it’s been forever, but Cristie Kerr is in contention at the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic. She shot a blistering 61 today and moved ahead of streaking Annika Sorenstam. Kerr has had an indifferent year, though she’s 4th on the money list heading into this week’s event, everyone thought this year might be the year she wins at least one major and possibly seriously contend in all of them.
Everyone’s aware of Kerr’s caterpillar-into-a-butterfly story and the transformation has been nothing short of amazing. It’s one thing to go through a physical makeover like Kerr did, but she also followed it up with a total game makeover and she’s been in the top-10 consistently ever since.
Can she go head-to-head with Annika tomorrow? It’s hard to say as Annika is on one of her famous season-ending rolls and she’s hard to beat when she’s caught fire like this.
