Unknowns Lead PGA Championship

Andrade, Donald, Herron, and Stenson.  Sounds like a law firm, but it’s the four-some tied for the lead at this year’s last major, the PGA Championship.  Of that group, Luke Donald is probably the only true contendor, but lurking 1 behind is Mr. Woods himself.  Davis Love III and Geoff Ogilvy are also 1 back and there’s another group of four two back heading into Saturday.

Woods played a safe round and didn’t get into too much trouble, but was somewhat inconsistent with his tee ball.  On the other hand, Mickelson hit more fairways than Tiger but struggled with his approach shots and is 4 back.   This championship is still wide open because the course is playing soft enough that tee balls aren’t running through fairways, and approach shots are sticking like glue on the soft greens.  With this combination, virtually any PGA touring pro has the ability to bring a course to its knees and Medinah is no different.  It was raining as the second round ended which means the players will probably come out tomorrow firing at the pins again.

Look for continued low scores on Saturday.

Medinah is literally just down the road (less than half a mile) from my house. I never watch the PGA Championship except when it comes to this course. I have tickets for Sunday, and can’t wait to go!!
