Tiger Earns 50th PGA Win

August 6, 2006 by admin

Tiger Woods won the Buick Open today and in the process, earned his 50th PGA win at only 30 years of age. Wow. Jack Nicklaus was 33 when he won his 50th. Woods has certainly shown everyone (myself included) that his Father’s passing didn’t paralyze him and in fact he’s on track to have a banner year yet again.

To put his 50 wins in perspective, Tom Watson has 39 career wins and Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson have 29 wins apiece, and they are all older than Woods. Nicklaus has 73 wins for his entire career and that number looks in serious jeopardy, at least for now. For all of us lucky enough to catch Tiger at a tournament means its something we’ll be able to share with our grandchildren someday. Enjoy the ride because guys like Jack, Tiger, Michael, Mickey, and Babe don’t come along very often.
