Is it Complete Denial?

I know I’ve talked about this before, but what happened to the days of honesty from coaches and managers? Was reading Captain Lehman’s comments about his rookies on the Ryder Cup team and he said, “…So the idea of not having experience does not scare me at all.” If the team had only 2, maybe 3 rookies, it’d be different, but the bottom half of the Ryder Cup team is not only lacking Ryder Cup experience, but winning in general.

I know it’s in vogue to completely block out reality (see Sergio Garcia and Michelle Wie), but sometimes it’s okay to be honest and just say, our team is lacking experience and we may get our butts handed to us, but this is the team I’m dealt and we’ll give it our best shot. What happened to the days of Billy Martin when he was managing the Yankees, or even Bill Parcells nowadays? Okay, I’ll let it go now. Really. I will.
