Sorenstam Out at Match Play Championship
Wow. With all due respect to Julie Inskter, there’s on way I would have seen that coming. Inkster played tremendous golf to beat Sorenstam in the quarter-finals of the Match Play Championship.
I’m a little surprised that Brittany Lincicome beat Michelle Wie, but it’s not a complete shock. I’m more surprised at Wie’s comments aftr th round. Wie said, “I played very solid and just had a lot of bad breaks.” Quite frankly, she didn’t play all that solid and she didn’t putt all that well either. Ironically, match play allows the bad hle or two because at the end of the day, the number of strokes you took doesn’t matter. And given that latitude, Wie still couldn’t put the pressure on Lincicome.
Paula Creamer disposed of Karrie Webb fairly easily and Lorena Ochoa ousted Sophie (what, me cheat?) Gustafson in the other matches.
Creamer will now play Inskter in one semi-final and Ocho will play Lincicome in the other semi-final match. I have to go with Inkster simply because Creamer is still hurt and Inkster has tons of experience that gives her a huge advantage. Ochoa should beat Lincicome in the other match, but stranger things have happened (and do in match play).
